The World Needs More Logos
Because without logos every product in the world would be exposed as the garbage it really is! Brand names and logos create the illusion of something greater. If Pepsi and Coke didn’t shove their logos in you face you might realize you were drinking toilet water!

I think marketing itself is a more insidious problem, which is part & parcel with brand integration and recognition.
You don’t have enough things! You thought you did, but no! here is a new thing that proves that what you had before is as inadequate now as you are without it!
I remember reading an article in…oh god Wired of all places…about peopel who refused to upgrade their computers and continued t use them for decades (like, someone in the early 2000’s using a c64 for everyday work and e-mail, or an Amiga, etc). I realized that we *don’t* need to get new shit every few years, for the most part-what we have been using had been fine until we were told that it wasn’t fine anymore. And as long as I do not cruise the “build yourself a new___” section on computer or car websites, or go to electronics stores with my credit card and a BAC of .10, I can hold off for a while.
And I still really want a Nintendo Wii TM and a new Apple MacBook TM goddamn it.
